San Luis Obispo artist, writer and reporter, Joan Sullivan, produces “Picture the Past Productions” - a series of historical documentaries, and “History in the Making” – documentaries about local artists and events of note. The monthly show airs on Charter Communications Channel 2, Public Access TV, Tuesday 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., and Thursday 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. Joan wrote and reported for several San Luis Obispo County newspapers and magazines from 1986 to 2006, and over the years has published numerous books from her columns. CASTLE CHRONICLES “Sketching Around Hearst Castle,” originally published in 1996 has been re-released with several additional illustrations, and is now available at the Aramark Food & Gifts, Hearst San Simeon State Historical Monument. It is also available at the San Luis Obispo County Historical Museum, 696 Monterey Street, San Luis Obispo; Volumes of Pleasure Bookshop, 1016 Los Osos Valley Road, Los Osos, and Coalesce, A Bookstore & More, 845 Main Street, Morro Bay.
Joan earned a Bachelor
of Arts degree from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida and a
California Life Teaching Credential, from California State University at
Northridge. She created her own art classes and taught children and
adults through the San Luis Unified School District (Adult Education
Division), the San Luis Obispo Art Center, Cuesta College, San Luis
Obispo and Morro Bay Recreation and Parks Departments from 1973 to 1983.
In 1984 she opened the Bayside Gallery with a friend and featured her
own paintings along with local artists, as well as art shows ‘on the
village green’ in Baywood Park. |
